An Introduction To My New Jam

Since I haven't yet written anything on the topic of my new and first ever modern political hero, Ron Paul, I thought it was about time that I give him some screen space. For starters, here's an informative Chicago Tribune write-up on Dr. Paul.

And for a little more insight and humor check out this sharp list of why he has earned so much attention and credibility with smart, young people today: 7 Reasons Why the Internet Loves Ron Paul. (Maybe in '88 he was just a bit ahead of his time.)

Even when so many people seem fed up with the defunct, disingenuous state of American politics, Paul's clear convictions towards a dramatically reduced government are often seen as just too nutty to get him anywhere. This perception saddens me and my newly awakened interest in modern politics, but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on his chances in the race or my own preemptive disappointment.

Please feel free to respond here or email me--especially you, Texas Bryan.

The spark (and kindling)

The inspiration for starting this long-delayed journal was just a brief article on the the evils of spellchecker. When I realized that sharing this story wasn't my first time at the copy 'n paste dance, I figured it was time to cave on the blog thing.

Another funny variation on the spell check error is the auto-type feature on phones, in my own experience, the two-letter-per-key BlackBerries are especially prone to funny mistakes. My favorite occurred while concluding a text to my girlfriend calling her the "nerdy queen". Since 'N' shares a key with 'B', 'E' with 'R', and 'D' with 'F', my phone thought it would be sweeter to tell her that she was my "beefy queen".

The other story that had me wanting to do a lot of sharing pertained to a brilliant hybrid of games and giving. So smart. (I was averaging around 38. Maybe not so smart?) But I have raised a lot of rice!

Now back to work...

The first

Disclaimer: This whole experiment could become completely disregarded, but I guess I'll never find out if I don't try. If you've found this entry as the sole blog entry on my site, and the year has passed 2010, I apologize.

Purpose: Unclear. A few possibilities:

  • a little running history for my own later reflection/sentimentality
  • an easy or quick way to log something that i suddenly felt thankful for having or experiencing
  • a means of sharing humor or insights from work
  • a channel for airing any unresolved teenage angst
  • a way to spread the word on other good posts, ideas, or droppings
Wish me luck!
